I think the term oxford comma is much better.

you see, after turning an, umm, advanced age, all references to colon cause an involuntary cringe!
Which brings to mind my upcoming "Christmas Present" scheduled for the day after Christmas. Oh, what fun.
(I wont ask if we have a colonoscopy smilie. That would be an oxymoron)

There wouldn't be a colonoscopy smile as you're knocked out during the procedure.

A sigmoidoscopy is another story. It's not too bad at first but then...

The Best Part is how they puff you up with air like one of those worms they use for fishing....AND you get to be on TV.

GP, if you're bothered by "colon," does that mean that a semi-colon is the same thing as a bowel resection?

A very penetrating observation! You sound like someone looking forward to another encounter soon. When I finally had my first "encounter" scheduled, my wife and I decided to pick up a video to watch during the run up. Based on a recommendation from a friend, and without knowing anything about the movie other than it starred Ricky Gervais, we picked up "Ghost Town". Not exactly the best choice.

I am so amazed that people can ramble on and say so many things about colons and other punctuation marks.
