Special Flag Retreat, Extreme Makover Home Ed.

Post by Mayonnaise » Mon Sep 26, 2011 5:49 pm

I was watching last night's Extreme Makeover Home Edition, and saw the Special Parade and Flag Retreat that ya'll did at WDW for the woman in charge of NC's Jubilee house, and then found this video with more footage of what actually went on (they only showed like 3 minutes of it in clips on the show.)

Were any of ya'll involved with this? It's awesome what work and number of people went into this thing.

IIRC the Flag Retreat in FL. is based on their Director's Experience with DL's Ernie....
Always love it!

If this was at Disneyland, the crowd would have been bigger, just to see Ernie...

Well ... I checked the pilots into their hotel room the night before. Does that count?

The Flyby Pilots stay on property? That's cool!!! So does that mean there's an airfield nearby that they stored the planes at and took off from? I always figured flybys took place out of the nearest Airforce Base, but they wouldn't need a hotel if they were taking off from a base.

You mean they don't pitch a tent under the wing?!?!

I worked with a guy who was a crew chief on B-52's during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He said they lived under the aircraft for three months on a taxi way because of the high level alert.

The same crew made a phony bomb run on a Russian trawler off of Guam.

He said; "Thank You Kman, & THANK YOU FOR ALL THE SUPPORT!" :usflag: I meant to record this but K Lot shuttle doors had other ideas. Thanks Mayo for posting this. I do appreciate it. WDW Flag Retreat at least honors veterans with our U S Flag. I give WDW great credit. Wish Left Coast could do the same.

For this particular fly-by at least, yes. They parked their planes at Orlando International and stayed on property. (as cool as it would be if they used the airport on property, it just isn't quite feasible)
