well, I was there in the 80's. from the restrooms and a store you can see the mansion leftside, I think. the restrooms are behind the store, or whatever it is now. and if you stand near the restroom doors you can see a train tunnel. thats all I remember and I havn't been back there since then. maybe a lot has changed since then.Zazu wrote:No, I'm betting on nuts. The Haunted Mansion at MK is a whole long way from either of the railroad tunnels. If you were staying halfway between them you'd be smack in the middle of Front Street in Frontierland.
Are you sure you aren't making up a story about Disneyland instead?

Nope, sorry. There is no location in the Magic Kingdom from which you can see both the Haunted Mansion and either of the railroad tunnels.drcorey wrote:well, I was there in the 80's. from the restrooms and a store you can see the mansion leftside, I think. the restrooms are behind the store, or whatever it is now. and if you stand near the restroom doors you can see a train tunnel. thats all I remember and I havn't been back there since then. maybe a lot has changed since then.
Are you sure you don't mean Disneyland? There you can.

I had originally thought so too.Goofyernmost wrote:This is a Disneyland Resort thread, I think!
Thus my confusion.drcorey wrote:around '82 at WDW in MK I lived there for a week and was never caught. I lived mostly between HM and the train tunnel, near the restrooms. security never found me.

well, never mind, I know it was WDW but apparently I don't remember much else back that far. all I really remember is sleeping in a bush and hearing that damn howling clip till like 1 am. and a restroom was near by around the back of a building.Zazu wrote:I had originally thought so too.

but you are right, I got on google earth and examined that area via satilight and nothing matched my memorys of it. one building looked sort of familar but it was near splash mountain and I couldn't see any train tracks, and the HM was way past that.
maybe one day I will visit there again and try to remember what I did in the 80's on that week. hmm, did SM have a howling wolf clip?

Perfectly understandable. Anyone living under a bush probably doesn't have the best memory.drcorey wrote:well, never mind, I know it was WDW but apparently I don't remember much else back that far. all I really remember is sleeping in a bush and hearing that damn howling clip till like 1 am. and a restroom was near by around the back of a building.

Don't be fooled by appearances. In Hawaii, some of the most powerful people look like bums and stuntmen.

Disneyland's restrooms in New Orleans Square - look to your left of the train station and you will find the Haunted Mansion. Behind the trainstation there is a break room for the engineers.

heck, that was around 1980 too. I am 51 now and can hardly remember what I had for lunch last week.hobie16 wrote:Perfectly understandable. Anyone living under a bush probably doesn't have the best memory.

I heard once you get into your 40's the eyes go bad and then the memory.

I'm seeing that Splash Mountain didn't open in WDW until 1992 and at Disneyland 1989.
