Today's Neat Find

A place to be entertained. Videos, jokes, games, and more.

At the old Disney Hyperion Studio, the screening room where animators would show animated scenes to Walt for his approval was small, with no ventilation or AC. Not only was it hot, but the animators were nervously awaiting Walt's reaction to their work. Thus, the room became known as the Sweatbox. Even after the Studio moved to Burbank and elegant screening rooms were offered to the staff, the moniker remained.

Now SGT has a sweatbox of our own. This is the place to find and post all entertaining topics such as video links, jokes, games, and the like. A general rule of thumb is that if the thread is meant to be informative (interesting news stories for example), or a topic for discussion (like setting up a park meet) then it should go in the Break Room, but if the intent is to entertain the masses then it's home is The Sweatbox. I'm sure there will be grey areas at times, so if you have doubt as to where a new thread should go, just use your best judgement and the SGT Staff will be glad to move it later if you guessed wrong.

I remember seeing H.R. Pufnstuf live on stage at Six Flags Over Texas when I was four. I was a huge fan.

Just a few months ago, though, I caught an old episode on late night T.V., and quickly came to the opinion that drugs had to have been involved in the creation of this show.

I used to live in North Hollywood, near the Burbank Airport (yes, I'm aware it is now called the Bob Hope Airport); mom worked at Lockheed then. There was a building near there that had a picture of H.R. Pufnstuf on it, and it was labeled Sid and Marty Krofft Productions, if memory serves. It wasn't until we moved from there in '95 that they removed the picture from the sign. After so many years of H.R. Pufnstuf being off the air at that time, I was amazed it was still up. Haven't been in that area since, though, but I assume the building is still there.

wow, that long?
as so many times as they were broken into and robbed, you would have thought the sign would have went down many years ago. lots of one of a kind props and costumes were stolen and damaged over the years.
Freddy the Flute was missing for like a decade. but also, where do you sell one of a kind stuff too.

Burbank Airport was a great place to fly in and out of when I worked for a company that was based in Westlake Village. The runways were a little short so the joke was just before landing you'd hear banging noises. They were cased by the wheels hitting antennas on cars in long term parking.

A guy I worked with was waiting for a flight there and witnessed the SWA flight that ran off the end of the runway and stopped for gas at the Standard station across the street.
