Guess the job wasn't that important to her. I would think that she should have seen the problem, but I guess the facts, however interesting, have nothing to do with it. (in HER mind)hhsrat wrote:Another CM that got themselves fired ...
Attraction X is short staffed to begin with. "CM Y" puts in for an ER at 14:00, is denied, because attraction is short staffed. All of a sudden, Y isn't feeling well, and "needs an ROS by 14:00". Management reminds CM that an ROS is not automatic, and that if she's not feeling well, they'd be happy to call an Alpha for her. Y declines.
At roughly 13:10, coordinator "C" receives a radio call, asking him to please telephone the Attraction X breakroom for an "emergency" situation. He calls, and speaks to Y, who still wants to go home and is unhappy that management won't let her leave. I was standing next to C at the time, and his part of the conversation included the phrase "There will be repercussions if you do that"
C and I return to our office to eat. We're interrupted by a phone call from the cast at Attraction X, who say that Y has not bumped into rotation, and that one CM thinks they saw Y leaving. C races over to the breakroom (abandoning his lunch) only to find no trace of Y, except for a note that she has left, apparently saying something along the lines of she likes her job and doesn't want to get fired.
Next day, Y shows up for work ... and leaves about half an hour later, with a management escort.

Re: CM's that got fired.
Managers get fired too.
About three months after I started my last job it was determined that all the support groups would be placed under a single director. Three candidates were interviewed, one was hired. In the first staff meeting it was determined by us managers that the new director was a drop case. It went downhill from there.
This guy was so bad that even when he had a chance to do the right thing he would do just the opposite. The VP of the division finally yanked all his management responsibilities and put him in charge of working with marketing to set up programs, pricing, etc. A month later the marketing rep threatened to quit as the director had absolutely no idea what he was doing but would argue with her for hours.
The VP told him he had two weeks to finish up and he was gone. The last day the clueless director announced to all us previous direct reports that he wasn't leaving as he had other things he wanted to work on. One of the directs told the VP who called security who walked him off the property.
The VP later said the director was the worst hiring decision he'd ever made.

I will be your guide for this magical journey into the movies. It's the perfect job for me, because I love movies! Is everybody ready? Great, because it's showtime. Ready when you are, CB!

I agree there. Come on now, I've worked more than once with migraine headaches so bad I'm sick to my stomach because there was no way for me to leave due to coverage. No fun at all but I've done it because I had to. I'm talking migraines so bad that all I want is for somebody to shoot me and put me out of my misery.joanna71985 wrote:Ouch! It doesn't help that no medicine I've ever tried lessens my migraines, the only cure is to sleep it off at home though eating something sometimes helps a little, if I can get it down. That's probably so as they are usually caused by me not eating properly or not eating when I feel hungry. I'm the type that if I wait to long to eat after feeling hungry I regret it.
My point is that sometimes one has to work when they are sick or not feeling well. No fun but it has to be done, especially if work is short handed at the moment.

Yup. I even had to call my own Alpha run once when I couldn't get MER. Surprising how quickly supervision becomes available when the 911 call hits the radio! :alphaunt:Shorty82 wrote:I agree there. Remind me when you hit town to give you a referral to my neurologist. Two others died of old age before he guessed what it took to stop mine.It doesn't help that no medicine I've ever tried lessens my migraines....

Take a look at this stuff. I'm not guaranteeing anything but it might be worth a shot.Zazu wrote:Yup. I even had to call my own Alpha run once when I couldn't get MER. Surprising how quickly supervision becomes available when the 911 call hits the radio! :alphaunt:

Thanks. It'll have to wait until I'm full time and have some medical coverage but it might be a good idea to visit him. I'm pretty certain I know the primary cause of my migraines. I'm hypoglycemic or something and if I don't eat the way I should I develop migraines. As long as I eat properly that day I'm fine but if I wait to long to eat after getting hungry or don't eat proper foods that day I'll get a migraine.Remind me when you hit town to give you a referral to my neurologist.
