Being a fat person myself (I don't use the euphemisms for fat, they just piss me off. I'm fat, darnit, and don't need to tiptoe around it or hide it.) and having to dress for Disney at least a few times a year, I realize that there are some clothes that Goddess did not mean me to wear, like spandex or tank tops. Heck, I don't even wear shorts. The highest I will go is capris, and the least I will wear on top is a t-shirt (Disney of course). It's not that I care what other people think, but it's public appropriateness and comfort for me.

I like the "Don't advertise what's not for sale" phrase. There are some clothing that is just NOT appropriate for a family oriented theme park. I'm sorry, but if I see as much of you as your gynecologist, put some darn clothing on, or go to Pleasure Island (at least for now!).

While I do think that kids need to be taught that the body is a healthy and normal thing, there are just certain things that are inappropriate in public. It is not that people can't control themselves when around nekkid people, 'cause they can, but there's just some things I don't want to see on Main Street.

Hey, ktulu: seriously, no offense intended bro. Just havin' a conversation...
Its a scale used to estimate the age of a victim of child abuse/pornography. Mostly an experienced pediatrician is used to estimate the age, based on various physical developement factors.

There are probably some here that have had to deal with it, from time to time.

I am also not a prude. but you have to draw the line somewhere.

Like I said in a previous post, the odds are, the girls picture is on a web site somewhere. People don't seem to realize that certain types of pedophiles have "target" types that they will hunt down and photograph in public places.

With the advent of digital cameras and electronic telephotos lens, they can "Focus" on whatever attribute that they like. Sadly, I am sure parks like WDW, DLR, and the others are great places for them to acquire material.

Lest not make it easy for them.

Lets just let kids be kids, when they turn 18, then they can decide how they want to dress, and by extension, what message they convey by their attire.

Regarding your slut/rapist poster:

Okay, hobie, I know you were posting a joke, but I want to talk about it a little because it's bothering me.

How exactly can anyone act like a rapist without being a rapist? That makes no sense. I can't even parse how that would be. I see that the joke is trying to make a parallel, but it's just not working because it doesn't make sense.

The thing is, it ties into a harmful narrative about rape, which is this notion that it's somehow the victim's fault. If she hadn't dressed like that, it wouldn't have happened; if she hadn't walked down that street, or gone to that party, or had that drink, and so on. The bottom line is that rape is ALWAYS the rapist's fault. Period, end of story. You can't have rape without a rapist.

Okay, so here's another reason why it bothers me: Humor is normative. When you make a joke about something, it encourages people to laugh, and get relaxed about the subject. One of the key things about humor is the idea that truth is what makes it funny - which means that jokes can enable people to believe that certain things are true in life. (I'm not sure I'm explaining this clearly, but bear with me. :) )

Look, I don't want to sound all santimonious, but this is a real issue. We're not that far from totally blaming rape victims for their rapes, and it's still the only crime in which the victim has to prove her or his innocence. It concerns me that so much of the responsibility is still placed on the victim, when the real responsibility lies exclusively on the rapist's shoulders.

I think that it is more of what society percieves to be signs of a rapist....exp..(and this is what I as a woman --and a fat one. :p: --got out of that picture) just because that young lady in the pic dresses with lots of body parts showing does not mean she is "easy" and the same goes for the viewer of the photo---just because they like to oogle pretty girls, does not mean they are going to take them in the back alley and have their way with them.

Does that make more sense Amp? I dont think it was meant to be a funny ha-ha picture (tho Hobie does put some hilarious ones up at times...YOU ARE WARPED MAN! ;) ) It was more on the lines of making you think. HOBIE???? Am I on the right track?

Side note....most debatable/controversial and on track thread (*vix does a FAINT..lol) I have seen on here for a while.

Humor is also something that, if done well, well probably offend someone. It'll also make you think. To be honest, I liked the slut line but not the rapist. I should have pulled it down, done some editing and posted it. I got lazy.

You are. This thread asks, "What are those kids thinking dressed that way?" and, "What parent in their right mind let them out of the house looking like that?" The picture posted with the first line illustrates that question. The second goes a little too far.

Hi Everyone, I'm a loooong time lurker, and while I hate for this to be one of my first posts, here goes:

One possible issue that comes to mind is if a male see's a girl exposing herself (even if by accident), he may not be able to control his sexual urges.
I have a big problem with this statement. Frankly, I find it backwards and sexist. I'm a woman in my early twenties, and consider myself to be attractive. Granted, when I go to WDW I dress to accommodate the heat, but I don't expose myself. But regardless of what a woman is wearing, it's not her job to worry about a man's problem controlling his OWN sexual urges.

If we followed that line of reasoning, we would have to worry about wearing flip flops (because of the men running around with foot fetishes). It's not reasonable to put the responsibility on us poor women.

Secondly, remember that women aren't objects to be viewed for your pleasure. We're human beings, doing our own thing, and if we decide to dress up (appropriately), we're not necessarily doing it for male attention. We're doing it so we feel good.

EeyoresButterfly wrote:Okay, I'm not saying that you are wrong about her age, but please don't just assume (obviously if you saw them all the time, you are more likely to know the girl's age). I am 23 and frequently get mistaken for somebody as young as 12. I haven't grown taller (just wider) since I was in 6th grade, in fact, I still have some clothes from that age that fit. When I was in a third grade classroom, several of my students were excited because they were taller than me! Now, I don't dress like I'm going to club (unless I was going to PI), but I do dress differently than when I was 13 or 14. I don't own anything super revealing, but I do have some v-necks that I wear with camis, and I'm not sure a 13 or 14 year old should wear something like that. I often go out with my mom when I visit, so people are more likely to assume I am younger. So please don't assume that you know somebody's age by first glance.
Oh sure. If I only saw the girl once or twice I might not have even noticed. I saw them every morning for YEARS. When men weren't around you could see she was young. Mannerisms. Ya know just young. And truly even if she was 18, it really was a bit much. She just had that " on the make" look to her that is undignified at any age... But sick at 14 and WITH YOUR MOTHER.

ICK.

I'm 37 and still get carded. Up until 3 years ago I would still get carded for R rated movies if I was wearing no make up. (Boy, DD has aged me!).

It was the excess of overt sexuality that drew my attention... Then when I really stated watching I noticed how young she was.

Welcome to the site watcher! Jump on in head first. LOL :D: Why not? ;)

Some good points there. Who knows some kook may get off on a woman wearing a heavy parka and gloves.
I am of the thot tho, dress appropriately for the situation. And on that note (and to go slightly off topic, what else would you expect? LMAO)
What does one wear to a evening wedding in Ohio in Sept at the zoo? The bride already nixed my leopard print Mickey head shirt. Darn! Just dont suggest pantyhose..they dont make ones for my fat ass, besides I am a magnet for the snags and runs.. 5 minutes and they are goners.
The Steelers themed one I have to go to earlier in the week is a lot easier...black pants, gold colored shirt. LOL

I just give them the  look and ask, "what do you think?" Come on ppl I have gray hair for god's sake. LOL My DD5 gave me the gray hair.
Is that your cutie in your avatar June? She is adorable.

Thank you! Yep, she's mine.

It is amazing how much she has aged me though. I did not have 1 grey hair before her. Literally.

But she is SOOOO worth it.

DD5? As in DD#5 or DD 5 yrs old?
