Re: Guests Speak: What Monorails Mean to Me

All of these great stories reminds me of the magical moments I have had with guests during my time in Rails. Really touching posts. One memorable time I had a mother and 3 of her kids in the cab who were around 5 to 12 years old. We were goign from TTC to MK on Express. She had the camera out with t...

Re: Michael Jackson will not be down for breakfast

The memorial service today was so beautiful. Masterfully done and very emotional. Yet at the same time it was uplifting.

Some critics billed this as going to be a rock concert spectacle. It wasn't that at all. It really humanized Michael. He was a father and a brother. A man.

Re: Six Flags will not be down for Breakfast

Back in the mid to late 1990s our Six Flags (Great America, near Chicago) was already plummeting downhill. I remember the day they opened the new Batman roller coaster. It was all nicely themed, with the Gotham City Park out front and marigolds all planted around a fountain. The teens in the line a...

Re: Six Flags will not be down for Breakfast

Problem with the Six Flags here is that it's become a teen hangout. A regular ticket now allows something like 4 free visits included and can buy season tickets ~$75. Just not enjoyable to go really. Started to turn into a mall. Kids there not spending money so all the good stores moved out into the...

Re: Fourth of July Monorail Incident

Not familiar with the FRA but I am assuming that would probably involve lengthy certification as well as a powerful RR union coming in. Disney would probably just scrap all of it instead knowing them. Yeah the NTSB reports will be lengthy. They usually include a 3D animation. But yeah expect 8 month...

Re: Fourth of July Monorail Incident

The slick swept-back modern look of the ends of the train comes at a price. Nothing to stop it until the chassis of both trains came together about right where the cab wall is. I saw this post on another board. Could faulty brakes have contributed to the scenario? A guest posted they had just ridden...

Re: Fourth of July Monorail Incident

I am so upset, especially after I saw the video at the Sentinel site. It's bad enough that the accident happened, whatever the reason, but why were Guests allowed on the platform? As soon as anyone was made aware of what had happened (I'm not sure if the accident happened where the video was taken ...

Re: Fourth of July Monorail Incident

My mom and I are in tears right now. I hope they release the name of the CM involved. Sentential just released it: Austin Wenneberg, 21. Personally didn't know him but looked him up on FB and saw we have a lot of mutual friends. I couldn't imagine what they're going through right now and his family.

Re: Fourth of July Monorail Incident

I hear that Disneyland will only be operating one train until some information about the cause of the wreck is known. Not much point trying that on a holiday weekend here, even if the TTC Station wasn't the center of the investigation. Can you imagine the queue to board the Express line with only o...
